Interior Design Awards

Written by Kim Whitehouse

The Hepburn Bathhouse & Spa has been shortlisted for the Interior Design awards, in the category of Public Design.

The purpose of the Interior Design Awards is to celebrate and recognise interior design excellence via a credible, industry-based program, which is backed by the Design Institute of Australia, the professional body representing Australian designers.

Cox Architects and Planners were selected for the redesign of the Hepburn Bathhouse & Spa, due to their strong reputation for culturally and environmentally sensitive design. The redevelopment continues the current use of the site as a therapeutic mineral spa centre and bathhouse, adaptively reusing much of the existing bathhouse structure including the heritage buildings and the modern extension to its south.

The winners of the Interior Design Awards will be announced at the Awards ceremony on Friday 1 May in Melbourne. The presentation of awards coincides with designEX 2009, Form & Function 2009 and the 2009 Conference of the Australian Institute of Architects.
