Discover Your Surrounds

You don’t have to venture too far to plan a fun and jam-packed weekend in Daylesford and Hepburn Springs.

From pampering spa experiences to delicious dining, we’ve tracked down the top places for a unique, entertaining, and all-around fun itinerary for you to enjoy.

Devonshire Tea at the heritage-listed Hepburn Pavilion

It sounds so simple… But a short walk (less than 150m) from your accommodation is the heritage-listed Hepburn Pavilion and original mineral bathing bathhouse which dates back to 1895.

The Hepburn Pavilion makes for a great start to the morning before you start exploring Mineral Springs Reserve. Known for their AMAZING Devonshire Tea, you get to hit the ground running on your amazing trip away with a relaxing coffee, connected to nature and in the heart of Hepburn Springs.

It’s a simple way to start your day followed by a walk-through Mineral Springs Reserve or a visit to the iconic Hepburn Bathhouse & Spa for a little ‘me’ time.

Take a walk through Mineral Springs Reserve

One of the region’s gems, especially in autumn, is the Mineral Springs Reserve. Families have enjoyed visiting the Hepburn Mineral Springs Reserve since the 1860’s. Generations of community members have looked after the Reserve, preserving its beauty and amenity for the enjoyment of all.

Take some time-out while exploring the natural wonders in the Reserve. Follow a meandering trail, stop to listen to the kookaburras or squat on a patch of grass to enjoy a picnic.

Relax with the ultimate mineral wellness experience at the Hepburn Bathhouse & Spa

Let’s be honest, it’s likely the reason you’re visiting anyway, but if not trust me when we say… treat yourself to a luxurious pampering you will never forget.

Begin the day with some water therapy in the iconic Bathhouse (if your over 16, we suggest the Sanctuary). Mineral water gurgles naturally from the ground in Hepburn and it will restore her body with its healing powers. In the Sanctuary where you can recline and relax, submerged in natural mineral water – heated to 36 degrees, on an underwater couch.

Afterwards, nourish your skin with a Moroccan Hammam ritual experience with steaming, soaping, scrubbing and lathering, it’s the ultimate experience.

Attend a workshop

Some pre-planning is involved, or a last-minute search.

Carve, stitch, bake and paint your way to inspiration at workshops and classes all across the Daylesford and Hepburn Springs region. Learn new skills, fine tune your senses and delve into a world of creativity at classes run by local studios, boutiques and kitchens.

Not only will you pick up a new skill, but it’s a great way to spend some one-on-one time with a friend or family member.

Visit Art Galleries

Step into the “art zone” by visiting the many independent galleries and artist-run spaces around Daylesford and Hepburn Springs. The Convent Gallery is a must. Uniting history, spirituality, art and culture all under one roof.

The Convent houses seven galleries featuring work by over 100 local, national and international artists. There are also many beautiful art spaces in Vincent St, Daylesford and Piper St in Kyneton on your journey to the area.

Shop ’till you drop

There’s no better activity than shopping. For that ‘wow’ factor, you will find normally hard to source, stylish items in the magnificent retailers in Vincent Street, Daylesford including Harry and Me, eCasa, Manteau Noir and Frances Pilley (our favourites!).

You can also find the styles that fit your personality, from some of the most exciting labels across Australia and around the world at Portal 108, just walking distance from the Hepburn Bathhouse and Spa.

Take a visit to Lavandula

This Swiss Italian Farm is a sight to behold with its sprawling gardens, old stone buildings, charming cafe and crazy geese roaming the grounds. Once you have experienced the rural European serenity of the farm, beautiful food and extraordinary lavender produce (including lavender ice cream and lavender Champaign) you will want to visit again and again.

But don’t tell too many people about this wonderful place!

Go to a wine tasting

Pour a glass (or three) of vino this weekend. Experience wine tasting and master the sniff, sip, and swirl as you and you enjoy an array of blends.

Visit the award winning Hanging Rock Winery and while you’re there, treat yourself to an extra bottle or two, along with a gourmet picnic box and grab a spot on their deck or lawns – it’s the perfect place to wile away the afternoon, taking in the iconic backdrop of their vineyard, Hanging Rock and Mount Macedon.

Or located just five minutes out of Daylesford in Musk, on top of the Great Dividing Range is Passing Clouds. The cellar door and dining room boast views over the vineyard and winery to be enjoyed while tasting their wines and perhaps accompanied by lunch slow roasted over coals.
